Rules and Guidelines for 2008

I. Eligibility
  A.

The owner, amateur, or youth must be a paid member in good standing with ECMHC.

  B.

It will be the responsibility of the owner to pay club dues and nomination fees before the first point of competition is earned, and to submit points to the Awards Chairman within four weeks after close of competition of each show.

  C. The nominee must be shown in at least one (1) show (sanctioned or non-sanctioned) in North Carolina.
     
II. Horse Ownership
  A.

Amateurs may lease horses. If leased, a lease agreement must be on file with AMHA, AMHR, or WCMHC.

  B.

If ownership of the horse should change during the year of competition; points will not be affected if the new owner meets the following requirements:

      New owner must be a paid member of the club or must join within 15 business days after purchase of the horse.
      The new owner meets all other award and division requirements.
  C.

If a horse entered into the Amateur/Youth divisions is sold to another Amateur/Youth, the points earned with the first owner may not count towards the new owner’s Amateur/Youth nomination

     
III. Scoring of Points
  A. Results must be attested to by a Show Official unless the show is an AMHA, AMHR, or WCMHC rated show. These results must be accompanied by a program or class list.
  B. Scoring of points will begin on January 1, 2008 and end on November 30, 2008.
  C.

All points won after November 15, must be submitted to Chairman by the first Saturday in December.

  D.

In the event of a tie in any division, the tie will be broken by declaring as the winner that horse or exhibitor who won the highest number of points at any Sanctioned show in classes counting toward the award for which the tie exists.

  E.

National or World shows will count towards points.

  F. Horses must be nominated before the first point can be earned.
  G.

Points MUST be submitted to the Awards Chairman within four weeks after close of competition of each show.

  H. Results, money, and other forms sent via mail will at the senders’ own risk.
     
IV. Awards
  A. Presentation of the awards will be given at the annual meeting held in December.
  B. Awards will be presented for Grand Champion in each division.
     
    If any dispute should arise, the decision of the awards committee will be final.

Performance B

Any performance class counts including Halter Obstacle, Versatility, and Liberty. Horses are not allowed to earn points in Country Pleasure Driving and Single Pleasure Driving at the same show. Multi-color and solid-color classes are considered “halter” classes.

At least 30% of points must be earned in halter classes, at least 30% of points must be earned in performance classes, and the remaining points may be earned in any class(es).

Exhibitor must meet all requirements of AMHA, AMHR, and WCMHR. Points may be earned in any class in which the exhibitor shows the horse. The award will be given for a one-horse/one-exhibitor combination.  An exhibitor may nominate as many horses as they wish. However, the award will be given to only one combination.

Amateur nomination fee is $10 per horse/exhibitor combination.

Youth nomination fee is $5 per horse/exhibitor combination.
